The cold front with which Germany is currently struggling does not stop at amateur football. In Hamburg and Hesse, frosty weather conditions cause widespread game losses. Explains what has to be considered with regard to the training at minus degrees.
Snow, ice and cold are currently falling on Germany – with more than minus 30 degrees, a new cold record for this winter was measured overnight on the Zugspitze, the highest peak in the country. No wonder, then, that “Hartmut”, who blows the freezing air into Germany, also has a firm grip on football.
The Hamburg Football Association today canceled all points, cup and friendly matches up to and including Sunday, March 4th. The prevailing space conditions allowed on the sports fields no regular playing conditions and could endanger the health of the players, according to a message from the association.
Long waits are taboo, in training is a lot of movement - especially with the goalkeepers.
In Hesse, too, the weather conditions have been reacting at short notice: The Hessian Football Association has decided on Tuesday, Tuesday, that no evening games, including games starting at 6 pm, will be held until Thursday. For the weekend one plans with the HFV however nothing like that, decisions over possible play losses are then to be met by the various Kreiswarte. Nationwide cancellations of other regional associations are not yet known, rather it comes to general cancellations of isolated district football associations – such as in Lubeck.
Hard-core footballers will not be able to keep the icy temperatures from kicking. But beware, even the “right” training in the cold to be learned. First of all, if you do not have to go outside, you should move the exercises to the gym as much as possible. Anyone who still has to stay outside should adjust the contents to the temperatures.
